Residential Visits

At Mylor Bridge, we offer opportunities for children to expereince residential visits during their time in KS2. WHilst often seen as a lot of fun by the children, residentials offer more than just time with friends ouside of the usual school day. Residential trips offer an invaluable extension to classroom learning and play a significant role in supporting pupils’ personal, social and academic development. These experiences provide children with opportunities that cannot be replicated within the school environment.

  • Developing Independence
Spending time away from home helps children build independence as they take responsibility for their belongings, follow daily routines and make choices in a safe, supportive setting. This encourages confidence and self‑reliance.
  • Social Skills
Residentials allow pupils to work and live alongside one another in new ways. Through shared activities and challenges, children develop teamwork, communication, cooperation and empathy, helping to strengthen existing friendships and form new ones.
  • Confidence and Resilience
Trying unfamiliar activities and overcoming challenges—whether physical, social or emotional—helps pupils develop resilience and a positive attitude towards problem‑solving. Achievements during the trip often lead to a noticeable increase in confidence.
  • Enhancing Curriculum Learning
Residential experiences complement the curriculum by providing practical, hands‑on learning in real‑world settings.
  • Supporting Wellbeing
Time spent outdoors, engaging in physical activity and connecting with nature contributes positively to pupils’ mental and emotional wellbeing. Residentials offer a break from routine and give children the chance to experience a sense of adventure.
  • Building a Strong Sense of Community
Shared experiences create lasting memories and strengthen the sense of belonging within the school. Residentials help foster a positive school culture and promote a supportive, inclusive community.
