I have worked in HR in the education sector for the last 25 years and am currently the Director of People for a large multi academy trust in Cornwall. Previously I spent a number of years working for Cornwall Council managing the team supporting schools with employment matters. I also have experience of working within the independent schools’ sector and have been a Clerk to Governors.
I live in Mylor Bridge and have two grown up children who were educated in Truro. I grew up in the local area and enjoy exploring nature and being outdoors as much as possible.
I relish the opportunity to be a part of the Mylor Bridge governing body and to contribute to a community working together to achieve the best possible outcomes for our children.

I became a governor in 2019 and have enjoyed monitoring and assessing both the resource expenses and future requirements. In my role I have also gained a good understanding of the overall school budget, how this is calculated, forecast and spent.
I started my working life in banking before committing to a 4 year teaching degree at Exeter University - I specialised in Science and was junior school trained.
After graduating, getting married and travelling for some time I worked in a local Cornish primary school as a full time year 1 teacher for 3 years. I loved it but the hours clashed with my husbands job. Over the next 20 years I set up and grew a successful property management business covering rental properties and later incorporating estate agency.
Since selling the property rental business I have followed another passion travelling all over the world whenever possible, seeing new places, visiting friends and often sailing with friends as they travel around the world.
My most recent work has encompassed property management of extensions, renovations and new builds.
I also manage a local café - from a distance, mainly working in HR and business development, finance & strategy.
For 20 years I have lived in Mylor with my husband and love the community as well as the school. I feel it is a genuine privilege to help where possible at the school as a governor.
Mrs Ruth Green
Parent Governor
I have two children who attend Mylor Bridge, and I was eager to become a governor to support the school's incredible staff and contribute to its amazing community. I love spending time in the school and am especially passionate about my governing responsibilities in Early Years and SEND.
With 15 years of teaching experience across both key stages, I strive to bring my knowledge and ideas to help the school grow and develop.
In my spare time, I enjoy going to the beach, kayaking, and coastal walks—but I'm happiest when camping!
Mr Matt Siggs
Parent Governor
I have two children currently at Mylor Bridge School who have both been at MBS since Reception and I have watched them thrive. I was raised in Sussex and then Devon and moved to Cornwall 15 years ago and then to Mylor Bridge just before our eldest was born. I rowed for Flushing and Mylor Pilot Gig Club for many years but love trying as many new sports and activities as I can and I try and foster that sense of adventure and open mindedness with my children. Our schedule is somewhat full but we all love the sense of community and belonging that comes from being part of Football, Gymnastics, Cricket and CrossFit clubs to name but a few!
I studied Environment, Ecology and Economics at York many years ago and have since worked in Agriculture both internationally and from Cornwall to Scotland. I work as an agronomist across SW England now, think "Cheerful Charlie" from Clarkson's farm and having come from a farming family am always keen to promote closer understanding of food and how it is produced. I am delighted to be part of the MBS community and hope my time as a governor will help the school and it's leadership team to continue to nurture and deliver for our children.
